Social Development reiterates commitment to increasing SASSA financial support

Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her assistance and dedication to increasing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) products and services during an engagement along with the agency's senior professionals in a strategic preparing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% with the registered pupils while in the training sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment national government is producing in the life of bad and susceptible youngsters is yielding a positive affect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe stated.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted crucial milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments plus the shortage of personnel at most area offices.
On top of that, the Minister highlighted the necessity for community-based engagements and outreach actions.
